This bill would amend and supplement the marriage statutes to include civil unions. The bill defines a civil union as a legally recognized union of two eligible individuals of the same sex.

The purpose of the bill is to provide same-sex couples with the same opportunity as heterosexual couples who choose to marry and to comply with the constitutional mandate set forth by the New Jersey Supreme Court in its recent landmark decision on October 25, 2006 of Lewis v. Harris, 188 N.J. 415 (2006). Read more »
